Natalie Simon is an abstract, expressionist painter based in a quiet, country village in Yorkshire. She creates bold, large-scale atmospheric works inspired by ever-changing landscapes and deep emotional reflection. Working intuitively, she is drawn to an impactful palette, rich textures and layered compositions that evoke both place and feeling.

With almost three decades of painting, she has developed a process that tells her stories. Each painting begins with layers of paper beneath the surface, creating texture and a quiet underlying structure that becomes an integral part of the work. Using acrylic paint, she builds and strips back the surface using her hands through a continuous process of application and removal, allowing each piece to evolve organically until it feels resolved. Guided by emotion, memory and lived experience, Natalie, never begins with a fixed plan, the painting reveals itself through the process.

Some works unfold over days, while others develop over weeks or months, shaped by periods of reflection and thoughtful consideration between each return to the canvas. It is within this rhythm of making, pausing and rediscovery that each painting finds its own resolution.
