Richard was born in Dorchester and spent his childhood in this picturesque part of England. He developed a keen interest in painting professionally from an early age when his talent was recognised by a local gallery. After graduating from Art College he took up a career as a graphic designer which later he abandoned it in order to further his ambition.

He studied in the studio of Terrance Anton who taught him the art of professional landscape painting. His versatility as an artist is astounding; his use of the primarily monochrome palette of his urban cityscapes, apart from a single splash of trademark red, lends itself to a more vibrant, contemporary mood. Regardless of the subject matter or the manner in which he chooses to paint it, Richard never ceases to produce work of the highest calibre.
